Watch our video to understand how OCAST works
With the COVID epidemic continuing to spread, and novel therapies, like the COVID vaccine, still months for most Americans, most virus sufferers, even those with potentially serious symptoms, are forced to remain home with no option for treatment.. However, there IS a treatment which exists right now which could significantly reduce the death rate from COVID-19. This is the use of convalescent antibody serum, or plasma, from recovered patients.
Receiving treatment sooner could prevent moderate cases from becoming life-threatening. Many hospitals are requiring moderate cases to return to self-isolation, without treatment. Patients sit at home, waiting to get better... or to get worse. We hope to remove the burden of fear, improve the probability of recovery, and reduce the sevrity of illness for such patients by providing a treatment option which exists and can be applied NOW.
Convalescent serum therapy for COVID-19 patients has been available for several months, however, supply is extremely short. OCAST hopes to alleviate this problem by creating a market for donors and recipients. Allowing plasma to be bought and sold at market rates should create the incentive necessary for supply to meet demand, based on basic macroeconomic theory.
Before we can create this market, we need funding! Please support our Indiegogo campaign or donate to us directly from this page. With your help, we will succeed. Let's bring the fight to COVID.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and provide serum to COVID sufferers. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
If you wish for your donation to go to a specific region, you may choose from the following:
- North America
- South America
- South East Asia
- Asia Pacific
- Middle East
We wish to create as many donation centers as possible. For now, we want there to be at least one in each of these regions in order to minimize plasma shipping time and cost and to increase global availability of Covalescent Plasma.
